What Is Hiero Day?

Hiero Day is a free community festival and paid concert event founded by Hieroglyphics Imperium to celebrate underground hip-hop and give back to the Oakland community. Since its founding, it has grown from a neighborhood gathering into one of the most respected independent hip-hop festivals in the country, drawing fans from across the U.S. and beyond.

The festival features performances from Hieroglyphics crew members — Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Souls of Mischief, Casual, Pep Love, Domino, and DJ Toure — alongside guest artists who share the independent spirit that defines the Hiero ethos. Past editions have featured legends from every era of hip-hop, all united by a respect for craft over commercialism.
